November 12th - December 3rd, 2010

Artist Bio
Christi Johnson - Growing up surrounded by a variety of crafts, Christi Johnson naturally found joy in that which is hand made. She creates nostalgic and optimistic pieces using old-fashioned techniques including embroidery, knitting, and patchwork. Inspired by home made quilts, Christi explores the ritual behind ‘hand crafted’, integrating these methods with the influence of soul music to express love through her sentimental pieces. In an effort to refurbish old techniques in a modern way, traditional embroidery patterns have been traded for whimsical doodles and a more sensual subject matter expressed in bright colors and recycled fabrics. She studied fashion at Otis College of Art and Design, graduating in 2007, and is currently working as a fashion designer at The Pop Studio.
Alia Penner - Alia Penner is an artist born and raised in the trees of Topanga Canyon, California. She brushes, cuts, snaps, and glues together her fantastic world of hypnotic color and classic dreaminess. Since graduating Otis College of Art and Design in 2007, she has worked on projects for RVCA, Missoni, Obey and Topshop. Her art has been featured in Arthur, Spin and Lula magazine and recently shown at the Architecture and Design Museum. With visions of cosmic roses, infinite rainbows and radiant ladies she hopes to open up portals to our technicolor dreams. http://www.aliapenner.com
